What do you mean, by this music? What is it intended to express?
What is your meaning?
You say, "Listen."
"That's the meaning."

Who is it who knows there is no ego?
It's very important, to get rid of that illusion of duality between the thinker and the thoughts.
So, find out, who is the thinker behind the thoughts, who is the real genuine you?

The mystery of life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.
Get with it, be completely here and now.
Come to your senses.

I am not a Zen Buddhist, I am not advocating Zen Buddhism, I am not trying to convert anyone to it, I have nothing to sell.
I am an entertainer. I have nothing to sell.

Bankei Zen

There was a division in the history of Zen, there were two very great masters: Hakuin and Bankei.
Bankei's Zen was elusive.
Hakuin had 80 successors, Bankei had none, and some people think that that was the most admirable thing about him.
He attempted a Zen of no methods.
And he ran his Zen on an entirely different system.
He talked mainly about what he called, "fusho".
Fusho is the unborn.
And so he said there is in you, the unborn mind.
Birthless and immaculate, sufficient to manage all that life throws upon us.
The birthless mind, which each possesses, is the beginning and basis of all.
Now if the buddha mind is birthless, it is necessarily immortal, for how can what has never been born, perish?
When I was 25, I realized that non-birth is all sufficient to life, and since then for forty years I've been proving it to people just like you. I was the first to preach this greatest truth of life. I ask , have any of you priests heard anybody else preach this truth before me? Of course not, haha!

Behind a vital religious life for the west, there has to be faith which is not expressed in things to which you cling, in ideas, opinions, to which you cling in a kind of desperation.
Faith is the act of letting go, and that must begin with letting go of god.
Let god go.

The Game

There is a sense in which, the universe is purely game, but not in the sense of a one-up-manship game, but in the sense of music.
In music, though, one doesn't make the end of a composition the point of the composition. If that were so the best conductors would be the ones who played fastest, and there would be composers who wrote only finales.
People would go to the concert to hear one crashing chord, cause thats the end.
Same way in dancing, you don't aim at a particular spot in the room, and thats where you should arrive.
The whole point of the dancing is the dancing.
It is this participation in the essential glorious non-sense that is at the heart of the world.
That isn't going anywhere, but is a dance.
But it seems at only in moments of unusual insight and illumination we get the point of this and find that thus the true meaning of life is no meaning.
That its purpose is no purpose and its sense is nonsense.
We thought of life by analogy with a journey, with a pilgrimage, which had a serious purpose at the end and the thing was to get to that end, success or whatever it is, or maybe heaven, after you're dead, but we missed the point the whole way along.
It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing or to dance while the music was being played.
